Head of Marketing and Events

Commercial Strategy | Brand Leadership | Revenue Growth

I build marketing functions that make businesses harder to ignore and harder to compete with.

Fifteen years in marketing has given me range across strategy, brand and execution. Leading at Head of level means I am accountable for performance, positioning and sustained growth. Marketing must support commercial outcomes. If it does not, it needs reworking.

I work closely with sales. Brand positioning, demand generation and live engagement are structured around pipeline quality, conversion and revenue, not just awareness. Marketing and sales should operate as one system, sharing insight, feedback and accountability.

What differentiates me is creative depth. I understand how ideas are formed, built and delivered. Creativity is not decoration. It is how a brand becomes distinctive and memorable in competitive markets.

I connect commercial objectives to disciplined execution. I build teams that understand both numbers and narrative. Campaigns, content and events are designed to strengthen brand equity while supporting sales performance.

TL;DR
If the above sounded like I live in a slide deck, I don’t. I stay close to the work. I back sales properly, push for good ideas and make sure they get delivered without finger-pointing or drama. I focus on solutions. I’m not interested in a problem’s history, only how to fix it.

    Crafting Campaigns That Connect

At the heart of every successful marketing effort is the ability to communicate with clarity, creativity, and consistency — and that has always been central to how I approach my work. From beautifully designed email campaigns that balanced striking visuals with purposeful copy, to engaging social content that sparked genuine interaction and grew an active, loyal following, every touchpoint was crafted with intention. A strong and distinctive brand voice was developed and maintained across all channels, ensuring that whether a customer encountered us through a paid ad, an Instagram post, or a newsletter, the experience felt cohesive, considered, and unmistakably ours. Design was never an afterthought — every asset, from campaign graphics to content layouts, was approached with care and an eye for detail that reflected the quality of the business itself. Where partnerships were involved, I worked closely with external brands and collaborators to thoughtfully adapt their identity into our own, finding the creative common ground that allowed both brands to shine without compromise. The result was a marketing presence that didn't just look the part — it built lasting recognition, deepened customer relationships, and gave the brand a voice people genuinely wanted to hear from.

  • Driving Growth Through Strategic Marketing

Throughout my time leading marketing activity, I played a pivotal role in driving measurable business growth — with over £1 million in additional sales directly traceable to marketing-led initiatives. Through a combination of targeted campaigns, refined messaging, and smarter use of digital channels, marketing became a genuine revenue engine rather than simply a support function. The launch of a new website and expanded social media presence didn't just modernise the brand's look and feel — it fundamentally changed how the business was perceived before a single conversation had taken place. Customers were arriving informed, engaged, and already aligned with the company's values and offer, dramatically shortening the sales journey. The elevated brand presence bridged a gap that had previously existed between the business and its audience, making every first interaction warmer, more productive, and built on a foundation of trust that the digital presence had already established.

Play
meets cutting edge technology

In an exhilarating collaboration that brought together the visionary minds of JD and SNAP, I took the helm of a pivotal role in shaping the groundbreaking AR store experience campaign. My passion ignited as I transformed a mere theoretical concept into a tangible reality that resonated with innovation. As the driving force behind every meticulously crafted asset, I harnessed the power of photogrammetry to breathe life into each element.

My synergy with JD was a very exciting point of my career to date, as we embarked on a journey of profound creative exploration. The sparks of our discussions leading us to craft a dynamic and interactive storefront that creates a sense of wonder. What began as a playful seed of an idea blossomed into a vibrant innovation that delivered on the initial playful concept, and vision of childlike experimentation for the end user.

Every step of the way, from inception to the awe-inspiring end user experience, I was the catalyst that ensured the continuity of our audacious vision, and I felt honored to be involved as my own skill for project, and campaign management developed.

The Rise of Virtual Shoe Fitting: Experience the JD Store at Your Fingertips
In a groundbreaking move that merged the realms of e-commerce and augmented reality, JD Store revolutionized the way customers chose and bought shoes. Leveraging cutting-edge technology, they introduced a remarkable feature on their Snapchat app that allowed users to try on shoes without ever leaving the comfort of their homes. By reusing the assets from their physical store displays, JD Store seamlessly transformed any living room into a private and personalized showroom.
Gone were the days of crowded shopping malls and queuing for fitting rooms. JD Store's integration of Snapchat's platform was a game-changer for shoe enthusiasts everywhere. With just a few taps on their phones, users could now access an extensive range of shoe collections and experience the joy of trying on different styles, colors, and sizes—all from the convenience of their homes.

In JD's collaboration with NIKE, they turned to my team to create assets that exceeded the limitations of static images.

Building on our track record of crafting versatile assets, NIKE entrusted us with a new challenge: designing 3D objects capable of cameos, macros, and lifelike performance that truly mirrored the real shoe from all angles. Despite the complexity, this challenge yielded incredibly satisfying results.

Throughout the process, our teams collaborated seamlessly, combining precision and creativity. Our commitment led to a blend of accuracy and playfulness that resonated with JD's brand identity. It's worth noting that our results were met with approval from NIKE's marketing team, who were impressed with the outcome.

This achievement highlights the effective synergy resulting from JD's decision to involve my skilled CCW team.

It’s all in the detail…

Working closely with the Lifestyle team, I managed the teams colour workflow, Texture creation, and final sign off of composition, and image accuracy and quality.

The Details of how the materials react to light, and translating physical limitations of photography to CGI grounds the image in reality. This is key in creating images without the uncanny valley feeling which CGI can fall in to.

During my tenure at CCW, a hub for A-list clients and rapid content turnover, I embarked on a compelling journey marked by significant opportunities. Operating within a tight-knit team, I harnessed my technical expertise encompassing colour, composition, and image quality to the fullest. Drawing from a diverse background spanning design, art, architecture, and management, I brought multifaceted contributions to the forefront. Additionally, my involvement in marketing campaigns underwent substantial growth, characterized by active engagement in creative dialogues resulting in impactful outcomes.

Moreover, I had the privilege of engaging in 12 months of client conversations with some of the most prominent brands worldwide. This experience became a pivotal period of learning where I honed the art of idea development and campaign sculpting. Through interactions with industry giants, I cultivated a profound understanding of translating concepts into effective strategies, aligning creative vision with brand objectives. This exposure not only fortified my communication skills but also empowered me to synthesize innovative concepts that resonate powerfully with audiences.

SOFOLOGY - DFS - Photoreal CGI, Marketing, Photography, Video

Role: Lead 3D Technician - 3D visualisation team - Marketing Team

Sofology

Seven years at one of the UK's most recognisable furniture brands gave me something no course or qualification could: real, hands-on immersion in marketing at scale. I was part of campaign planning and execution, brand development, and the kind of considered, consistent creative output that keeps a major consumer brand sharp and relevant. I worked within a team of genuinely talented people, contributed beyond the boundaries of my role, and grew in ways that only come from being in the room, at the table, and involved in decisions that actually mattered.

The exposure to how a high-performing marketing team operates, the standards it holds itself to, the rigour behind every campaign, the craft in every piece of communication, set a benchmark I've carried with me ever since. Add to that an intimate understanding of visual production, CGI, and how world-class imagery is created and deployed to build desire and trust in a product, and Sofology represents a uniquely rich chapter of experience that sits behind everything I now do as a senior marketer.

Some places teach you the job. Sofology taught me the craft.

Teamwork

it makes the Dream Work.

Working closely with Chris Booth, I meticulously created the comprehensive Assets for the Breast Cancer Awareness Chair, which included detailed 3D Scanned Meshes, carefully chosen reference imagery, and accurately captured material scans. Additionally, I focused on the falloff properties and applied my colour workflow to produce Colour Correct imagery that was visually striking. This project stands as one of the tens of thousands of Assets I had the opportunity to help create during my time at Sofology. With my unwavering dedication to high data capture and precision, the final asset emerged as a perfect and authentic representation of the original product.

Digital Project Management

With extensive experience working across the Northwest, I have operated as a freelance Digital Project Manager embedded within a number of leading agencies, overseeing the full lifecycle of digital projects from brief to delivery. Working closely with in-house CGI and photography teams, I managed the coordination of visual production workflows, ensuring assets were delivered on time, on brand, and to the highest creative standards. Alongside this, I collaborated with web development teams to drive the build and launch of digital platforms, managing timelines, stakeholder communication, and cross-functional resources. My freelance model allowed agencies to scale their project management capability quickly and effectively, bringing structure, clarity, and momentum to complex, fast-moving projects.

**READ ALL ABOUT IT...**PRESS AND PRINT

Although I was only 17, I remember being BBC NEW Photographer of the year 2006 runner up very well.
It was the first real taste of being recognised for my work, and the first spark of wanting to create images that would be widely seen

Throughout my career, I have been fortunate enough to see my work frequently featured in print and the press. Whether it is a magazine article, a newspaper column, or a book, the thrill of seeing my work on the printed page never fails to bring a sense of pride and accomplishment. There are moments when seeing my work in print comes as a delightful surprise, unexpected recognition for my efforts. At other times, it is deliberately sought after, carefully crafted to make an impact. Regardless of the circumstances, the feeling of flipping through a physical publication and stumbling upon my own words is truly exhilarating. It serves as a tangible reminder that my work has found a place in the wider world, and there is something undeniably satisfying about that.

In the Studio

Built, lit, and delivered

I’ve built many professional photography studios from the ground up—designing every inch around workflow, lighting, and colour accuracy. From custom lighting rigs and calibrated colour-graded monitors to full end-to-end workflows, I’ve created environments that don’t just look good—they run efficiently and deliver consistently. I know my CRIs, my LUTs, and the details that separate ‘good enough’ from best-in-class. After a decade working every role inside a studio, I bring that same level of technical control and creative vision to every project I lead.
